What You Need To Know About The Ellen DeGeneres Show Ending — Final Premiere Date & More

Ellen DeGeneres

The upcoming season of ‘The Ellen DeGeneres’ will be the last. The premiere date for the final season has been revealed and a new promo has dropped.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show has been a daytime mainstay since 2003. Ellen DeGeneres has been the host of her own talk show for 18 seasons, and now she’s saying goodbye. The final season will debut in September 2021.

Ellen’s decision to end her long-running daytime talk show was announced in the wake of reports about The Ellen DeGeneres Show allegedly being a toxic work environment for employees and accusations about her alleged behaviour on set. Many wondered whether or not the show would get cancelled. Instead, Ellen has decided to bring the curtain down herself.

From when you can expect the last episode to air to the many allegations to the future of Ellen’s time slot, HollywoodLife has rounded up the key things you need to know about what’s going on with The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

No, The Ellen DeGeneres Show has not been cancelled. She has ended the show herself.

“I was going to stop after season 16,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. That was going to be my last season, and they wanted to sign for four more years, and I said I’d sign for maybe for one. They were saying there was no way to sign for one. ‘We can’t do that with the affiliates, and the stations need more of a commitment.’ So, we [settled] on three more years, and I knew that would be my last. That’s been the plan all along. And everybody kept saying, even when I signed, ‘You know, that’s going to be 19, don’t you want to just go to 20? It’s a good number.’ So is 19.”

She also said, “I’m a creative person, and when you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged. I just needed something to challenge me. And as great as this show is, and as fun as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore. I need something new to challenge me.”

Back in May 2019, the daytime talk show icon revealed that she had signed a new deal to continue hosting her talk show through 2022. Ellen made the announcement herself amid speculation that her talk show may be coming to an end.

“From the beginning, I said this show was going to be like a relationship,” Ellen said in her video. “We’ve been through the good, the bad, the Fifty Shades of Grey phase. It’s been a lot of fun, and 16 years is a pretty good run. Sometimes in a relationship, you need to take a break. But I don’t. You’re stuck with me. I just signed for three more years.”

Ellen will return for the farewell season of The Ellen DeGeneres Show on September 13. “With unparalleled celebrity interviews, musical performances, topical stories, extraordinary human-interest guests, and sought-after viral sensations worldwide, DeGeneres will continue to deliver uplifting, inspiring, and hilarious experiences to viewers throughout her final season,” the announcement read.

Amaechi Muonagor

Death has struck again in Nollywood as veteran actor, Amaechi Mounachi, has been reported dead. The actor, famous for his comical roles, passed away after a protracted battle with kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke.

The tragic news of Muonagor’s death hit the internet on the evening of Sunday, March 24, 2024.

This is coming barely one week after a video circulated online showing the 61-year-old actor lying still in bed, requesting financial aid to support his kidney transplant.

Sitting next to the Nollywood legend was a fellow actor, Kingsley Orji, who pleaded on his behalf.

According to Orji, the kidney disease had caused speech impairment for the ailing actor, and they decided to bring him home from the hospital due to a lack of funds.

Orji had earlier revealed that Muonagor had been battling diabetes and stroke, with the latter causing paralysis in his leg.

In a social media post last November, Muonagor’s cousin, Hon Tony Muonagor, posted a picture of him sitting next to the ailing actor on a hospital bed, stating that he wants the public to know the situation with his relative.

He later went into details of how the Nollywood legend had been battling kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke. He said though Muonagor had been managing his diabetes over the years and living his life, he was undergoing weekly dialysis at the time of the post.

Muonagor had been receiving dialysis and physiotherapy, amongst other treatments, Tony added. The actor joins a list of other Nollywood veterans who died this month. Most notably, John ‘Mr Ibu’ Okafor died on March 2 after a protracted illness that led to the amputation of his leg.

“Springbok Casino goes above and beyond to keep its excellent games lobby well stocked and updated with new titles. We always look forward to the online casino games that make an appearance on a monthly basis. Their bonuses are always generous and we like that their promotions are always changing. But more than anything, we love the human side of Springbok Casino. Their entire team should be commended for doing such as great job!” One of the reasons that Springbok Casino no deposit bonus got the thumbs up from www.SouthAfricanCasinos.co.za was the fact that the site offers a massive R11,500 welcome bonus to SA players.
