It’s a lie that govt is not fighting crime in the Western Cape – Police Minister Bheki Cele

Police Minister Bheki Cele

Police Minister Bheki Cele says it’s a blatant lie that the government is not prioritising fighting crime in the Western Cape.

On the campaign trail in crime-ridden Mitchell’s Plain on Friday, the minister was at pains to fob off any suggestions that it was deliberately side-lining the DA-led province but Western Cape authorities insist that Cele is giving the province the cold shoulder.

Community Safety Minister Albert Fritz says dire under-resourcing is hampering crime-fighting efforts.
