    Armed-robberry

Armed robbery suspects in the early hours of last Wednesday invaded Oladipo Street, Iyana Yesi, the Sango-Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State residence of a businesswoman, Olufunke Oladipo.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the armed men numbering about five, who arrived at the house around 3 am, operated for hours unchallenged.

They were said to have made away with the victim’s jewellery valued at N1.5m, N150, 000 cash and all her Automated Teller Machine cards.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the robbers, armed with local guns and knives broke through the roof of the house to gain entrance into the apartment and blindfolded residents while tying their hands behind their backs.

They were said to have hit Oladipo on her chest with a piece of wood after slapping her, therefore leaving her unconscious.

Her daughter, Folasade, who narrated the incident to PUNCH Metro on Sunday, said it took a doctor several hours to revive her mother after the attack.

She said, “They came around 3am. They broke through the ceiling. My paternal uncle who was around at the time was blindfolded. They broke into my mother’s room. My dad was not around at the time.

“When my mom heard the sound of breaking in, she became suspicious and called my dad about what was happening. Immediately her call ended, those thieves broke in into her room and my dad was already calling back. So they said she should pick up the call.

“They started slapping her. They ordered her to pick up the call and tell her husband everything was fine, which she did. My dad had already called the chairman of the community to let him know what was happening at our house. The thieves operated for hours. They left our place around 4am. No one came to her rescue. It took hours for doctors to bring my mother back to life. They beat her chest several times until she became conscious.

“She fainted afterwards. They had to rush her to the hospital. They started beating her chest to see whether she would regain her consciousness. She eventually did after several trials. An x-ray test was conducted on her after she complained of chest pain.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Oyeyemi Abimbola, who could not immediately confirm the incident, promised to find out and revert.

He was yet to do so as of the time this report was filed.
