Exposed: How Indian Cartels are using WhatsApp to lure African women for s.e.x. A shocking documentary titled Imported For My Body’, aired by the BBC last year on December 16, exposed a cartel of s.e.x traders who have been using WhatsApp to lure Kenyan girls to India where they are forced into prost!tution.
One of the girls, only identified as Grace agreed to expose the pervasive underworld trade by walking around with a hidden body camera.
It all began through an innocent chat in one or her WhatsApp Groups formed by girls looking to update each other on the latest job opportunities. Consequently, a message was forwarded to the group regarding lucrative job offers and vacancies in India.
The position entailed work as a tour guide for foreigners after undergoing a rigorous customer service training program whose costs would be covered by the employer. Grace quickly grabbed the ‘heaven-sent’ opportunity and arrangements were made for her to quickly fly to India.
However, the tide turned for her as soon as she touched down in New Delhi. A lady who goes by the name of Goldie confiscated her documents and forced her into a brothel nicknamed ‘the kitchen’, where she was forced to sell her body or risk being thrown out into the streets with neither money no travel papers to aid her in finding a way back home
Goldie told Grace that she had used a lot of money, costing about Ksh400,000 to have her flown to India, so the latter would have to work towards paying her back. On average, a client normally paid Ksh1,400 for a girl, implying that Grace would need to sleep with at least 286 men just to raise the money.
“I hated it so much that a man has to come and pick you up the way you go to the market and pick potatoes,” Grace tearfully said. On what she termed a bad day for business, Grace would sleep with at least 9 men.
Her brave decision to expose the dark underworld of s.e.x slavery in India, where at least 1,000 young Kenyan girls are said to be trapped in the trade, helped to shine a light on a network of brothel owners including Goldie, a lady only identified as Princess and an unidentified Nigerian man who served as the chairman of an organization purportedly for Nigerian students in India.
BBC confirmed that Grace survived the ordeal and was brought back to Kenya where she is set to sit for her form four examinations in 2019.
